In 2012, Alberto Menegatti, a member of Circolo Surf Torbole, broke Alessandro Comerlati's record from 1991, which had remained unbeaten for over 20 years. However, Alberto's record was then surpassed in 2015 by Matteo Iachino, the PWA Slalom World Champion of 2016, who completed 18 laps in 1h 4' 5". In 2018, Bruno Martini, representing Circolo Surf Torbole, shattered the record by completing 19 laps in 1h 00' 31" (1 lap more than the previous record), with an average speed of over 50 km/h. Not only that, but all the top 7 finishers also beat the previous record, indicating the spectacular conditions of that edition with a southern wind, making it perhaps the most beautiful One Hour Classic ever.
Since 2018, the competition has extended to the FOIL category, allowing participants to take part in the RRD One Hour Classic, the Foil race, or both disciplines. In 2022, Jordy Vonk shattered the record set in 2021 by Bruno Martini: the Dutchman completed an impressive 21 laps in 1h 01'. Vonk also reached a top speed of 33.24 knots in the foil race, the second highest ever recorded. Surpassing him in terms of top speed was Vrieswijk, who reached 33.59 knots (over 62 km/h) on the final leg.
